Texans here is a thought to ponder for the week: Joe Straus as Speaker?

Texans if you are going to bet, bet on the horse. Don’t sell your soul to win. Win because of the race and because you stood on the side of Freedom and Limited Government.

“What this story gives us, is a sense that there are capabilities in each of us that are beyond what we think what we can have. Life is about finding how far you can go, how fast you can run and you never know until you try, until you run.” Randall Wallace

I would contend this is the “American Way” to win.

Here is a thought to ponder over this Thanksgiving holiday, a thought to discuss with family and friends at the dinner table in Texas.

With all we now know about the reality of the Progressive left and what they are willing to do to create a Socialist/Marxist society in America, why on earth would we allow Republican State Representatives to be bought off for their votes for Speaker of the House. Secondly, why would they allow themselves to be bought? The answer, according to some Texas State Representatives,” is this is just the way it is, that’s politics, and you people do not understand what goes on in Austin, the back door deals we must do to get things done.”

The peoples’ answer is “you are right that is politics as usual, but not anymore. We are engaged and we will stand together on principal because if we do not Texas will be lost to the Progressive/Socialist agenda.”

There is a reality on the ground you may not be aware of with respect to the Speaker of the House race in Texas; both Fiscal and Social Conservatives across the state are banding together through the Tea Party movement to take Joe Straus out of the position of Speaker of the House.

Why is this you may ask? Joe Straus is a Republican right? No, Joe Straus is a former Democrat and current RINO (Republican in Name Only)

This is from an article by Bryan Preston Soros’s Shadow Party trying to turn Texas blue. Reading this full article is highly recommended.

“The “Colorado Model” and George Soros’ “Shadow Party” have both landed in Texas in the form of a shady activist with a plan: attack the GOP’s largest stronghold and destroy its limited-government success story.”

If you are just now hearing the name Joe Straus, here is a little background on the man:

He is currently the Republican Speaker of the House……..

Joe Straus’ family has been in the horse racing business for over 80 years and owned Retama Park, which is northeast of San Antonio. He has transfered the ownership into his fathers name and is hoping to hit the jackpot (as it were) with slot machines.

Read the story here. Of special interest.

“If slots pass, [Retama CEO Byron] Brown envisions a massive transformation at Retama with an investment of more than $200 million in new facilities, gaming terminals and other amenities.

Still, that isn’t likely to happen until late 2012 at the earliest if slots are approved. Approval requires a vote of two-thirds of the Legislature, with voters getting the final say.

It’s not clear what would happen to Retama if slots don’t pass. Gary Baber, board chairman of track owner Retama Development Corp., a municipal subdivision of Selma, fears it could become home to a flea market or motor racetrack.

Built in the early 1990s for a reported $80 million, Retama Park had trouble right out of the starting gate. It missed financial projections its first year and landed in bankruptcy a year later in 1996.

Joe Straus Jr., who is the father of Joe Straus, the speaker of the Texas House, is part of the group that got Retama built. Straus blamed the arrival of the state lottery, the rise of Internet gaming and the spread of eight-liner slotlike machines for hampering the track.

While Retama Development emerged from bankruptcy, it didn’t shed its financial problems. Since its reorganization, it has ended every year in the red. In each of the past 13 years, auditors have cited Retama Development’s recurring losses and growing liabilities for raising “substantial doubt about Retama’s ability to continue as a going concern.”

“It’s kind of a minor miracle, in my opinion, that we have kept (Retama) alive as long as we have,” Baber said.”

Next, “Straus appointed liberal committee chairs Burt Solomons and Brian McCall who effectively killed all immigration enforcement legislation in the 2009 session. Because the Legislature only meets every two years, this means the ongoing invasion of our state cannot be addressed until 2011 at the earliest.”- Peter Morrison

In addition, Joe Straus has been running ads all across social media that say he is Pro-Life, when in fact he is Pro-choice. Straus received a 100% rating from NARAL and his wife sat on the Board of Planned Parenthood.

His family actually donates to Planned Parenthood, which receives your tax dollars to fund abortion. The debate is not about abortion, the challenge we should all have is whether Joe Straus is distorting his record on this issue when it is convenient to his re-election as Speaker, and actually lying in his advertising.

Lastly, according to the Heritage Alliance, in the last legislative session Joe Straus voted with conservatives only 52% of the time, which was the second worst voting record among Republicans. In fact, five Democrats were more conservative than Straus!

Straus was elected in 2009 because of a coalition of 11 Republicans who banded together with every Democrat in the Texas House. What resulted was the liberal agenda being achieved in the Texas House when Republicans had the majority, albeit a slim majority in 2009.

This must not happen again!

Did you know that one of the largest donors through PACs to Joe Straus and many of the Conservative Republicans who continue to support Straus is actually a Liberal Progressive Democrat who has vowed to destroy limited Government in Texas, a man who just bought Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie? This man’s name is Steve Mostyn, a prominent Houston attorney and a man some have called the “Lone Star George Soros”, and his recent purchase brings him and Joe Straus on the same side of the Gambling issue in Texas..

Now from Blue Dot Blue an article that lays out Mostyn and other Progressive’s strategies in Texas.

“You probably haven’t heard the name Steve Mostyn, and that is largely by design – he doesn’t want you, the average voter/taxpayer/citizen, to know who he is. He does want you to vote his way, however, and he’s not above handing out cash like candy on Halloween to those who support his cause. What is that cause, pray tell? It is the permanent destruction of not only the Republican Party, but the conservative and libertarian movement in Texas. Mostyn has started with pledging $3 million to the Bill White campaign and other Democratic campaigns in Texas this November. More than that, Mostyn is the brain and cash trust behind the Texas Trial Lawyers Association – the group in Texas that fights more than just tort reform, with operatives all over the Capitol, staffing Democratic offices, and funding Democratic state House and Senate candidate like Mark Strama, Rene Oliviera, Jim Dunnam, and many more across the state.

If you’ve hung around politics and the blogosphere long enough, you’ve definitely heard the name Matt Angle. Angle is the Democratic operative behind a good portion of the worst of the Democratic-leaning PACs and organizations responsible for several of the candidates and Democratic incumbents in the Texas House, and behind the majority of the leftist rhetoric infecting the issues debate. The organizations in question:

Key – Lone Star Project – Angle’s online attack vehicle

Texas Trial Lawyers Association – Houston trial lawyer and Democratic bankroller Steve Mostyn’s organization, pushes against sensible tort reform on behalf of trial lawyers

Texas Freedom Network – anti-Christian organization run by Cecilia Richards

Back to Basics PAC – Texas version of MoveOn.org, bankrolled by Houston trial lawyer Steve Mostyn, has launched extreme attack ads on Republican Gov. Rick Perry

Texans for Public Justice – nominally non-partisan watchdog funded by Soros and Heinz-Kerry that attacks Angle’s chosen targets

Texas Democratic Trust – Angle’s massive slush fund, left to him by John Edwards’ benefactor, the late Fred Baron

Texas Democratic Party – under Angle’s control from Washington

Texas Progress Council – left-wing PAC that funds Democratic candidates

Angle and Mostyn are a team of deadly vipers, and together they operate an efficient machine.

To get an idea of what exactly is going on, and why it matters, I suggest reading this 2008 Weekly Standard article by Fred Barnes, and checking out some of Rob Witwer and Adam Schrager’s The Blueprint: How the Democrats Won Colorado.”

There will be Conservatives on either side of the issue of allowing gambling in Texas, but really that is not what this debate should be about at this time. The question is, are we Texans willing to allow Progressive Liberals to use this issue to divide us? Joe Straus is not a Conservative and Joe Straus stands to gain Millions upon Millions if he and Steve Mostyn are able to get gambling approved in Texas.

Are we as Texans willing to allow Joe Straus to control the agenda of the Texas Legislature, a man who has a proven track record of getting a liberal agenda accomplished with a Republican majority?

If you are a Conservative Republican State Representative who believes slot machines and gambling should be approved in Texas, are you willing to stand on that issue at the expense of National Security and State Sovereignty, due to tougher anti-illegal, border security and Voter ID laws not being passed in the upcoming legislative session?

If you are a Conservative Republican State Representative who believes slot machines and gambling should be approved in Texas, are you willing to stand on that issue at the expense of even more sweeping Tort Reform?

If you are a Conservative Republican State Representative who believes slot machines and gambling should be approved in Texas, are you willing to stand on that issue at the expense of Life for the unborn?

If you are a Conservative Republican State Representative who believes slot machines and gambling should be approved in Texas, are you willing to stand on that issue at the expense of more Freedom and Limited Government?

If you are a Conservative Texan, (party affiliation does not matter), will you stand on principal and stand for Texans and America?

I ask you to join me and Women on the Wall as we work to put a True Conservative in as Speaker of the House.
