Former ACORN Insider Infiltrates Fox News

The sometimes strange and increasingly alarming “age of Obama” continues to bring the average American startling and upsetting news. The ever reliable Vice President Joe Biden stepped in to add insult on top of injury to the growing number of Americans who identify themselves as part of the Tea Party. From Biden’s equation of the Tea Party to “barbarians” to Obama supporting “Teamster boss James P. Hoffa’s Labor Day call for to “take these sons of bitches out‘” to the ridiculous announcement that Obama has started his own “Project Vote,” the hits just keep on coming.

As Americans deal with an the fallout of having an ACORN community organizer running the country, the scattered ACORN alums continue to infiltrate into other trusted institutions. Including Fox News. Jehmu Greene, former National Director of Project Vote currently spends her days undermining Conservative principles from her position as a Fox News contributor. Greene’s tenure at Project Vote coincided with this reporter’s stint there. Curiously, Greene’s Huffington Post bio omits the position.

In 2006 ACORN was running a massive campaign across the country to raise the minimum wage. Their efforts were tied in with Project Vote’s voter registration drive and the subsequent take over of the House of Representatives by Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats. As a tax exempt nonprofit, Project Vote acquired funds to run “non partisan” voter registration drives but “contracted” with partisan ACORN. This 2004 Joint Effort Agreement attempts to provide legal cover for two organizations that, during my tenure, operated seamlessly as one.

Project Vote’s was started in 1982 by Sandy Newman, a friend of Barack Obama. As Ballotpedia states:

“Project Vote (or Voting for America, Inc.[1]) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization. According to its website, Project vote provides ‘professional training, management, evaluation and technical services on a broad continuum of key issues related to voter engagement and participation in low-income and minority communities.’ It was founded in 1982 by Sandy Newman and its current executive director is Michael Slater, who has worked for Project Vote since 2004.[2],[3],[4]

“Project Vote has three primary programs, the Voter Participation Program, the Election Administration Program, and the NVRA Implementation Program…

“One of Project Vote’s most successful voter registration drives was directed by U.S. Senator and presidential candidate Barack Obama in Chicago during 1992. Sandy Newman, a friend of Barack Obama’s, recruited Obama to return to Chicago and head up a massive third-party voter registration effort on behalf of Project Vote. According to Barack Obama himself, the objective of the 1992 program was to organize and assist minority and other disenfranchised communities to ‘get out to vote.’[17]. “

As Project Vote National Director, Greene was responsible for fundraising which included grant applications and contracts. This application from the Tides Foundation (a known ACORN funder that even had ACORN founder, Wade Rathke on its board), shows that Greene was the responsible party for this grant.

In 2008 when the relationship between ACORN, Obama and Project Vote came to light, Project Vote tried to scrub its history and claim no real association with ACORN. Project Vote’s own website states that it has been around since 1982 and several of its grant application reference this year, but Project Vote and Obama both maintain that he worked for a different organization that was started around 1994. This organization, they claim, of course, was never affiliated with ACORN. The screen shot below was taken in 2009  of Project Vote’s website.

The question becomes “What did Jehmu Greene know and when did she know it? Management meeting notes dated 8/11/2006 that were submitted into evidence in the Pennsylvania case Moyer vs. ACORN show that Greene was heavily involved with Sandy Newman and his Wellspring Advisors.

“Jehmu – EAC [Election Assistance Commission] grants for two cities to recruit poll workers for about $17K each. Marisla Foundation giving $50K for operating support. Other still pending with amounts TBD.

ZAP [Zach Polett] – Wellspring sponsored call with 55 funders and Jehmu is following up with them. On the two EAC contracts Jehmu will bottom-line the details.”

Was the newly minted Fox News contributor aware of the shenanigans going on with ACORN, Citizens Consulting Inc. (CCI) and the various tax exempt ACORN entities?” As late as 2009,  Project Vote still claimed 1982 as when they were founded. Why the sudden change after Obama was elected? Was it to protect the lies of our new president?

Was Project Vote committing fraud by lying about its inception and connection to ACORN on grant applications to foundations and even the United State Election Assistance Committee? More importantly, did the former head of Rock the Vote knowingly work with an organization with one of the worst records regarding voter fraud/voter registration fraud?

A November 2006 email from  Sandy Newman congratulates Jehmu and others:

“Whatever the election outcomes, you guys have done one hell of a job! You have an enormous amount to be proud of. Way to go.”

ACORN’s Kevin Whelan responds back to Jehmu and others saying”

“Thanks. CNN says we won in OH and MO.” and “John Fund is on Headline News saying we are Satan.”

The emphasis is mine, but what stake does a tax exempt, non partisan voter registration organization have in the outcome of an election? Project Vote’s Michael Slater chimes in to interpret John Fund’s post-Election 2006 remarks on CNN.

“John’s just saying our felonious activities have helped exposed flaws in the system that can easily be fixed with common sense reforms like making people show picture ID, register to vote in person and prove their citizenship.”

Voting rights and voter registration fraud are no laughing matter and neither is Jehmu Greene’s relationship with Fox News.  In 2008 Greene’s name was given to several Congressional and Federal investigators as someone with knowledge of ACORN’s inner workings. When the opportunity to stand up presented itself, did Greene choose to protect the Democrat establishment?

Michelle Malkin, Glenn Beck and other Fox News personalities have been vilified in the mainstream media and threatened in their personal lives for exposing ACORN. It is an insult to them and average Americans to have a former ACORN insider using Fox News to espouse her liberal bias. From attacking Tim Tebow to smugly “representing” blacks during segments called “Has Obama Abandoned the African-American Community?”  one has to question the judgement of Fox when folks like Walter Williams, Star Parker, Alfonzo Rachel and a host of others like them exist in the Conservative movement.

In this time when honest Americans are taunted and threatened by the likes of James P. Hoffa and slandered by the VP, our only hope is to wake up and realize that radicals have assimilated into the very core of our society. The next time we see a split screen like the one below, one can only hope that Ms. Greene is finally answering the tough question that  Fox should have the courage to ask.

America Needs a House Hearing on the Obama/ACORN/Project Vote Machinations

Machination: “a scheming or crafty action or artful design intended to accomplish some usually evil end”.

Congressman Darrell Issa has not held a hearing on ACORN, with ACORN whistleblower Anita MonCrief and attorney Heather Heidelbaugh front and center, as they were before a House Judiciary subcommittee in 2009, when Democrats controlled the House of Representatives–see Ms. MonCrief’s “How This Reluctant Whistleblower Decided to Tell All” and here.

But ACORN founder Wade Rathke is not satisfied and on August 10, 2011 he reiterated his call for “an aggressive, progressive opponent” to unseat Issa.

“…reading the New York Times on-line after an overnight flight here about the inability of San Diego Congressman and House Investigation Committee Chair Darrell Issa (R-CA) to separate his personal business from his political oath makes me once again in these pages renew my argument that this guy needs an aggressive, progressive opponent in his re-election and is vulnerable!

“Let me reprise my earlier case. The district is not as Republican as one might imagine and has significant chunks of Riverside along with northern San Diego County. There is also a huge Hispanic population constituting more than one-third of the district, and he’s doing nada for any of them. There has been double-digit unemployment in the district and the home foreclosure rate is always in the top three to five highest in the state of California. And, the guy is a self-aggrandizing, irresponsible, headline grabbing, constantly controversial dude and bull-in-a-china-shop in Congress and in his so-called investigations, including for full disclosure his preposterous reports about ACORN. So my position, and I’m sticking to it, is that he has earned robust opposition and could be taken down.”

In November 2010 Rathke had sent Issa a backdown-or-else message.

In “Darrell ‘McCarthy’ Issa and the Non-Profit Purge” Rathke wrote:

“Issa is vulnerable…because in his own district, California #49 with huge portions of Riverside County and northern San Diego County, he is in fact sitting on a powder keg. Riverside is in a virtual tie for #1 in the number of homes at some stage in the foreclosure process in California involving 5% of the property holders and more than 35000 homes in the first six months of 2010. This is some bad stuff sticking to Issa’s shoe. Folks barely hanging on wouldn’t necessarily think they have a friend in Issa, since he was ranked as perhaps the richest member of the 111th Congress with over $225 million net worth. He might understand afterall that ‘all politics is local’ and he has to do more than just talk about it to hold onto a base in the 49th.

“Add that to the fact that his district is less than 60% Anglo and a solid 30% of his district is Hispanic though it goes without saying he’s terrible on immigration reform issues, and there are some unhappy people in the 49th . Gore won this district when he ran for President. Bush did better on his second shot, but McCain barely won against Obama. If we had a real progressive movement in this country, Issa would be on a short list of targets for retirement from Congress.”

Rathke wittily depicted Issa as “scary.”

Rathke:

“Darrell Issa…was interviewed the day after the election about how he saw his ‘work’ shaping up. It was a little late for Halloween, but it was scarier than the worst fright movie.

“Some commentators took Issa’s remarks as conciliatory, which must be the result of post-traumatic stress or an abused child syndrome, because every one of Issa’s comments was buried in speculations, inaccuracies, illegalities, and opinions masking as facts.”

Rathke elaborated:

“[Issa] started out with some comments about wanting to be a ‘reformer-in-chief’ and swearing that he wanted to not just bring down Obama, but sully up Bush as well by naming out Freddie, Fannie, and Countrywide as targets and throwing in the BP and Gulf’s oversees at the Mineral Management Service for good measure. This is well plowed ground, so good luck, Congressman, though given the right’s obsession with the Community Reinvestment Act and the blame game about CRA and this crises (totally unfounded), I don’t really have good feelings about his motivations there either.”

If Issa’s motivation is to uncover the truth and put the financial crisis in context–and it appears to be, then Team Obama has reason to be very nervous and Rathke should not expect to have “good feelings.”

What exactly did Issa say that Rathke admittedly found “frightening”?

Issa:

“I think it’s very important that we look at ACORN as something that occurred, it was criminal activity and it used government money and nonprofit money both to do politics. There’s certainly going to be other examples on the left and on the right where we at least have to deny them nonprofit status and government money if what they’re doing is being overtly political”

“But I do think that the people understand that ACORN needed to go away, it went away and we’ll continue to make sure that there is no equivalent.”

Issa is wrong about ACORN having gone “away.”

In proudly describing ACORN in his biography at his website Rathke noted: “The ACORN family of organizations includes radio stations (KNON and KABF), publications, housing development and ownership (ACORN Housing), and a variety of other supports for direct organizing and issue campaigns, such as Project Vote and the Living Wage Resource Center.”

ACORN has morphed, not gone away, and a key part of its “family”–Project Vote–is still functioning, and note that subversive Cloward-Piven strategist Frances Fox Piven is a board member.

Rathke isn’t about to give Issa and other conservative Republican Congresspersons a pass for not holding a hearing on ACORN.

One more reason for a hearing that will provide answers to the ten questions now Speaker John Boehner asked as he worked to become Speaker.

As I wrote in “Speaker Boehner, heed Laura Ingraham on the danger of cutting deals with the far left“:

“On September 24, 2009 ’10 Questions for ACORN’s “Independent’ Investigator” was posted by Geoff Embler at then House Minority Leader Boehner’s blog. That post, filled with very revealing ACORN whistleblower Anita MonCrief testimony, is set forth in full below.

“The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) this week appointed former Massachusetts Attorney General Scott Harshbarger (D) to conduct an ‘independent’ investigation into recent allegations of potentially criminal activity by employees of the troubled organization. Those accusations spurred the U.S. Census Bureau and Internal Revenue Service to terminate their relationships with ACORN. The House of Representatives, led by the efforts of House Republicans, also overwhelmingly passed the Defund ACORN Act as an amendment to legislation providing for a government takeover of student lending.

“As if the news about ACORN in the last few weeks has not been troubling enough, a look back at an October 2008 Pennsylvania injunction hearing against ACORN provides even more reasons why the House must have a stand-alone vote on the Defund ACORN Act so that Democratic leaders sympathetic to ACORN cannot hold the Defund ACORN Act hostage to a government takeover of student loans.

“The injunction hearing included testimony from former ACORN employee Anita Moncrief, who worked in the group’s Washington, DC, office and had first-hand knowledge of its operations and offered a disturbing look at how ACORN works. Based on testimony from the hearing, here are 10 questions for ACORN’s new ‘independent’ investigator to answer…

ACORN filed for liquidation in bankruptcy on Election Day 2010, apparently anticipating a shift in control of the House, and Democrats will argue that such a hearing would be moot, but ACORN served for many years as an unofficial arm of the Democrat Party and exposing the truth remains critically important.

Even more important for America’s imperiled future, a hearing that focuses on The New York Times spiking an Obama/ACORN expose shortly before Election Day 2008 would make Congresswoman Michele Bachmann dream that Obama will be “a one-term President” come true!

Red Reps 12: Babette Josephs, Philly’s Socialist Democrat

Babette Josephs

First elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1984, Babette Josephs represents the 182nd Legislative District, which encompasses Center City and South Philadelphia. A senior female Democratic legislator, she has served as the Democratic chairwoman of the House State Government Committee since 2001.

Josephs is responsible for a number of laws and initiatives, including adding to the state Hate Crimes law crimes against a person for his/her sexual orientation. Josephs authored the law that guarantees confidentiality of HIV records. She also helped to pass a law providing for automatic recounts in close state election races.

Josephs has been honored repeatedly for her legislative advocacy and action, receiving such acknowledgement from Smokefree PA, Statewide Pennsylvania Rights Coalition, Pennsylvania Federation of Museums and Historical Organizations, Project Vote Smart and Pennsylvania National Organization for Women.

Her current efforts are aimed at increasing state funding for public libraries and the arts, as well as securing adequate and permanent funding for public transit, improving access to health care for low-income working adults, increasing the minimum wage, allowing stem cell research and ending discrimination against gay, lesbian and transgendered individuals in health care, housing and employment.

Josephs has also been a proud member of the thoroughly discredited and now re-branded ACORN.

In 2009, a bill introduced in the Pennsylvania legislature to investigate the activities of ACORN, was stalled in the powerful State Government Committee.

The chairman of that committee was State Representative Babette Josephs.

The revelation of Chairman Joseph’s ACORN ties came in a April 3, 2008 hearing of the House State Government Committee. The hearing took place at 9:05 in the morning in room 205 of the Ryan Office Building in the State Capitol Complex in Harrisburg. The purpose of the hearing was to discuss the upcoming (April 22nd) Pennsylvania primary election preparations with Governor Ed Rendell’s Secretary of the Commonwealth, Pedro Cortes. As Cortes was being questioned by Committee members, there was this exchange, released in the official Committee transcript, between Berks County (Reading) Representative Carl Mantz, a Republican, and Chairman Josephs:

REPRESENTATIVE MANTZ: Yes. In my own county, there have been news reports in my county, Berks County, Lehigh County, in my district and also Philadelphia, about allegations respecting the activities of the ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. And allegations have been made that ACORN and its employees have submitted fraudulent voter registrations. Number one , I guess my question is, is it legal for Pennsylvania, in this state, to compensate individuals or voters, each voter registration that a person — I understand that that’s apparently — I don’t believe that’s — I see Al Masland has left, and I apologize. I’m not as familiar with the statute in that respect.

CHAIR JOSEPHS: Mr. Mantz, we can get the answer to you, but I would like to say that I am a member of ACORN, and they do not do that.

Babette Josephs has also been a member of the US’s largest Marxist organization, and long time ACORN ally, Democratic Socialists of America.

The January 1990 issue if D.S.A.’s Democratic Left, contained a page 7 list of Democratic Socialists of America members then holding elected public office in the US.

Babette Josephs, Pennsylvania State Rep., Philadelphia, appeared on that list.

Being a member of a Marxist organization is one thing.

Being a Marxist while standing for election on a Democratic ticket is another.

Would Babette Josephs ever have been elected had she stood on a D.S.A. ticket?

The Fascist Stealth of Agenda 21

I didn’t even know about Agenda 21 until a couple of months ago. Did you know it has been around since 1992? It is quietly and stealthily being implemented throughout the United States and the world. And within its scope is contained some oldie but goody concerns that I have held for some time: confiscation of public lands by the government (the Wilderness Project), EPA over-regulation, population distribution and control and the list just keeps getting longer and scarier… Agenda 21 is a 40 chapter plan that lists a series of goals to be achieved globally. It is the global blueprint for changing the way we “live, eat, learn and communicate” because we must “save the earth.” Humans be damned.

Under Agenda 21, everything you can imagine would be heavily controlled by the government: water, electricity and transportation are just some of the areas of concentration that are targeted. This new way of living would usher in an uber-nanny state globally, the likes of which we have never dreamed of. Forget one-world government… Think one-world totalitarian regime.

So what exactly does Agenda 21 entail? It consists of 115 specific programs designed to facilitate, or to force, the transition to Sustainable Development. The objective, clearly enunciated by the leaders of the Earth Summit, is to bring about a change in the present system of independent nations. Agenda 21 is broken into 8 sections:

  • Agriculture
  • Biodiversity and Ecosystem Management
  • Education
  • Energy and Housing
  • Population
  • Public Health
  • Resources and Recycling
  • Transportation, Sustainable Economic Development

Think our government won’t practice and promote population control? Think again. Below is a map for your review. The red and yellow areas would be off-limits to humans under a fully implemented Agenda 21. Humans would be herded and corralled into the black areas where they would more easily be controlled. Stack em and pack em – the smart growth zones. How very 1984. Deliberate dystopia…

One can only deduce by looking at the above map, that the UN and our government expect a huge reduction in population in the United States to occur at some point. This has been planned for a long time and obviously, a majority of Americans are seen as ‘expendable.’ From End of The American Dream:

This agenda showed up again when the United Nations Population Fund released its annual State of the World Population Report for 2009 entitled “Facing a Changing World: Women, Population and Climate“.

The following are three quotes that were pulled right out of that document….

1) “Each birth results not only in the emissions attributable to that person in his or her lifetime, but also the emissions of all his or her descendants. Hence, the emissions savings from intended or planned births multiply with time.”

2) “No human is genuinely “carbon neutral,” especially when all greenhouse gases are figured into the equation. Therefore, everyone is part of the problem, so everyone must be part of the solution in some way.”

3) “Strong family planning programmes are in the interests of all countries for greenhouse-gas concerns as well as for broader welfare concerns.”

If no human is “carbon neutral”, then what is the solution?

To those that are obsessed with Agenda 21 and “sustainable development”, the fact that you and I are alive and breathing air is a huge problem.

Think this monstrously evil agenda isn’t progressing? Well, hold on to your hats, because Agenda 21 is moving ahead exponentially. On June 9th, 2011, President Obama signed his 86th executive order. From The Blaze:

President Obama’s E.O. 13575 is designed to begin taking control over almost all aspects of the lives of 16% of the American people. Why didn’t we notice it? Weinergate. In the middle of the Anthony Weiner scandal, as the press and most of the American people were distracted, President Obama created something called “The White House Rural Council” (WHRC).

Section One of 13575 states the following:

Section 1. Policy. Sixteen percent of the American population lives in rural counties. Strong, sustainable rural communities are essential to winning the future and ensuring American competitiveness in the years ahead. These communities supply our food, fiber, and energy, safeguard our natural resources, and are essential in the development of science and innovation. Though rural communities face numerous challenges, they also present enormous economic potential. The Federal Government has an important role to play in order to expand access to the capital necessary for economic growth, promote innovation, improve access to health care and education, and expand outdoor recreational activities on public lands.

“Sustainable Rural Communities” are code words for the UN plan for Sustainable Development known as Agenda 21. This executive order shows that the government is planning to take full control of food, fiber and energy. They also intend to fully control economic growth, health care and education. The new White House Rural Council will probably be populated by experts in the various fields that might prove helpful to the folks who live and work outside of large urban areas, right? Well, Tom Vilsack, the current Secretary of Agriculture, will chair the group, but let us review the list of members appointed to serve on this new council – according to the order, the heads of the following groups have been appointed:

  • (1) the Department of the Treasury; Timothy Geithner
  • (2) the Department of Defense; Robert Gates
  • (3) the Department of Justice; Eric Holder
  • (4) the Department of the Interior; Ken Salazar
  • (5) the Department of Commerce; Gary Locke
  • (6) the Department of Labor; Hilda Solis
  • (7) the Department of Health and Human Services; Kathleen Sebelius
  • (8) the Department of Housing and Urban Development; Shaun Donovan

It appears that not a single department in the federal government was excluded from the new White House Rural Council, and the wild card option in number 25 gives the president and the agriculture secretary the option to designate anyone to serve on this powerful council.

The United Nations has been peddling their Sustainable Development program for almost twenty years. The UN’s “social justice” blueprint – Agenda 21, requires governments to control almost all aspects of an individual’s life and is extraordinarily invasive and violates virtually every part of our Constitution. Americans are just now waking up to its presence and they are resisting more and more every day. The question is, will we resist enough to stop it from being ‘switched on?’ Obama is literally going around Congress and implementing this agenda regardless of how Americans feel about this fascist plan.

I don’t know about you, but I am not ready to live in a ‘green’ world that is ruled by a bureaucratic monster government that values the environment over mere human existence.

If the powers that be succeed in their implementation of Agenda 21, “Sustainable Development” and population control, how we live will change drastically over the next few years and not for the better. The collective believes resistance is futile.

In this video, the Forum for the Future presents their chilling version of the future. Are you ready to live in a “Planned-opolis?” Are you ready to use a “calorie card” and to have what you eat determined by a “global food council?” The brave new world that we will be forced to submit to (if the UN and the government get their way) is an alien idealistic version of hell on earth with a fascist tyranny that would make Mao quiver in ecstasy.

While this may seem almost comical, be assured that steps are being taken over the entire globe to implement this insanity. Huge strides are being made in accomplishing the various goals of Agenda 21. We are seeing it in light bulb restrictions, fuel and transportation advancements, energy meters, etc. We see it in the valuing of fish over humans in California where droughts are ravaging the farming communities. We see it in the choosing of the environment over farming where flooding is devastating other agricultural communities. If you open your eyes, you will see what is going on. Is the FBI Investigating Obama?

In a front page story about a major FBI terrorism investigation, The Washington Post has reported that the targets include “Chicagoans who crossed paths with Obama when he was a young state senator and some who have been active in labor unions that supported his political rise.” The implication is that the trail could lead to the White House.

This is an unusual investigation that does not primarily involve Islamists. Instead, it is focused on elements of the old international communist networks that many people mistakenly thought had faded away with the collapse of the Soviet Union. Those under investigation are suspected of providing support to foreign terrorist organizations such as the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine in the Middle East, a Marxist group. The Post called them “Colombian and Palestinian groups designated by the U.S. government as terrorists.”

The investigations came into public view last September when the FBI raided the homes of several “activists,” as the Post called them. Some lived in Chicago.

One of the targets, Tom Burke, was a union organizer for the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). He was so confident he would get a fair shake from the Post that he provided the paper with a photo of himself shaking hands with Barack Obama. The other apparent intention was to send a message to the President and Attorney General Eric Holder that any investigation of Burke might lead to Obama.

The Post suggested that investigations of labor union activists might jeopardize their support for Obama’s 2012 presidential run. Indeed, it could therefore threaten his re-election bid, if investigations determine that the activists did more than “cross paths” with the President.

Deep inside the article, in the 29th paragraph, we find out that some of the “activists” are associated with a group known as the Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO), a Marxist-Leninist organization. Burke is a member of the FRSO, which the Post admitted was “far left.”

The obvious question is why Obama, as a state senator in Illinois, would ever have “crossed paths” with such people. The answer goes beyond just union support for the candidate. The “far-left” networks that include the FRSO, the Communist Party USA, the New American Movement, and the Democratic Socialists of America backed and even spawned Obama’s political career. Don’t forget that Weather Underground leaders Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn hosted a fundraiser for his first run for political office. The same networks also backed CIA Director Leon Panetta’s career when he was a congressman from Santa Cruz, California. This helps explain why Obama would pick Panetta, with no intelligence background, to run the intelligence agency. They are cut from the same cloth.

Nevertheless, on Tuesday, the Senate voted 100-0 in favor of Panetta’s nomination as Secretary of Defense. It was a classic case of “head in the sand” politics, ignoring not only Panetta’s long-time relationship with Communist Party member Hugh DeLacy but his record as a congressman in undercutting then-President Reagan’s pro-defense policies at every turn.

Obama and Panetta were players in the “progressive” community, which since the days of Henry Wallace, presidential candidate of the Progressive Party, has had a red tint. Obama had his own communist mentor, Frank Marshall Davis, a Communist Party member under FBI investigation for 19 years, while Panetta gave DeLacy, who had traveled to China to meet with Soviet and Chinese intelligence agents, sensitive reports on U.S. military matters. Any notion that Panetta had no awareness of DeLacy’s Communist affiliation was obliterated when Panetta in 1983 inserted a tribute to DeLacy into the Congressional Record, praising his resistance to “McCarthyism.”

Former FBI agent Max Noel once told me that the Bureau used to investigate candidates for federal employment by analyzing Character, Associates, Reputation, and Loyalty to the United States. The first letters in those words make up the acronym CARL. By the standard of “A”—Associates—Panetta flunks. But so does Obama.

Another sensitive case involves Huma Abedin, a top aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and wife of disgraced Rep. Anthony Weiner. Walid Shoebat and Ben Barrack have reported that Arab newspapers have revealed that Huma Abedin’s mother is a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, a group whose goal is to subvert Western civilization. Jamie Glazov of Front Page Magazine asks Robert Spencer, “There is a remote possibility that Abedin is actually being deceptive in her marriage to Weiner to follow Muslim Brotherhood instructions and to infiltrate the U.S. government, correct?” Spencer replies, “Certainly. That is a very real possibility, and it should be investigated. But the only ones who have the means to do so are mainstream media journalists who are either clueless or complicit.”

It may also be the case that the FBI never investigated Abedin’s background.

As the FBI does not vet presidential candidates for national security purposes, we know there would have been no FBI investigation into Obama’s own background, associations, loyalty, and overall fitness for office. The FBI only probes those being considered for some federal positions under the president. They should have therefore investigated Panetta. But there is no indication that he was ever properly vetted. Now he is confirmed as Secretary of Defense because conservative Republican Senators were apparently afraid of being accused of McCarthyism for questioning his past associations.

On the other hand, the “progressives” are raising hell with Obama and want him to rein in the FBI. They want to further emasculate the agency charged with ferretting out subversives and terrorist support networks.

As the Post noted, “nine members of Congress have written letters to the administration” complaining about the FBI probe of Burke and other activists. The Post even noted that another one of the targets of the investigation, a union organizer named Tracy Molm, managed to arrange a meeting with Holder himself.

One of these congressional members is Muslim Rep. Keith Ellison, the foremost critic of Rep. Peter King’s hearings into radical Islam in America. “Shortly after the raids,” Ellison said, “I made inquiries to the FBI field office for more information. FBI Special Agent Boelter confirmed that an investigation was ongoing. He informed me that due to the pending nature of the investigation, he was prohibited from sharing any further information. However he gave me assurance that the purpose of the searches and service of subpoenas was not to punish or to suppress protected First Amendment activity.”

Pro-Marxist activist Medea Benjamin has said she managed to have a few words with Holder as well to complain about the probes. She is with the Code Pink group that travels to Gaza to meet with the terrorist group Hamas. She is also a staunch ally of Adam Kokesh, the “Russia Today” TV star who openly admits that he functions as a paid Russian agent of the Vladimir Putin regime.

Holder is receptive to this kind of appeal because of his friendship with Obama and record as Deputy Attorney General in the Clinton Administration for facilitating pardons and clemency for terrorists from the Puerto Rican FALN and Weather Underground. It is this record that puts the current investigations by the FBI in serious jeopardy.

The Post article has to be seen as a signal to Holder from those around Obama that he must act quickly to close down these investigations before they get too close for comfort to the Oval Office. First, however, he has to make sure that the congressional investigations don’t get too close to Holder himself. It won’t look good for the Attorney General to be personally implicated in knowledge of the federal gunrunning schemes now under Congressional investigation that provided weapons to Mexican narco-terrorist cartels. The evidence already shows that federal authorities let guns fall into the hands of known criminals.

Panetta Report 4: Leon Panetta’s Communist Friend and the Chinese Spy

From at least the mid-1970s until 1986, President Barack Obama‘s nomination for Secretary of Defense, Leon Panetta, had a close personal friendship with Hugh DeLacy, a Santa Cruz, California activist and a life long Marxist-Leninist.

Then Congressman Panetta and DeLacy exchanged letters over many years – almost all of which dealt with defense and foreign policy issues. Many involved requests by DeLacy for information, policy papers, etc., which Panetta went out of his way to supply.

What Panetta hopefully did not know was that in the year before this correspondence began, Hugh DeLacy had been in the People’s Republic of China meeting with three men, all at one time accused of having spied for the Soviet Union. One of them, Solomon Adler, was at that time, reliably reported to be a senior advisor to the Chinese intelligence services.

In February 1972, Hugh DeLacy received a letter from California academic John (Jack) S. Service. Clearly a reply to an earlier communication, the letter remarked that the men had possibly previously met in 1945 and should reconnect in the near future.

In 1945, DeLacy had been a secret Communist Party USA member, serving as a Democratic Congressman in Washington. DeLacy had been infamous at the time for his speeches on the floor of the House, denouncing US support for the Chinese Nationalists and trying his best to tilt US policy in favor of Mao Zedong’s communist forces.

Jack Service, at the time, was publicly linked to the “Amerasia” Soviet spy ring, which was also trying to move US foreign policy in favor of the Chinese communists.

By April 1974, DeLacy was writing to the Chinese ambassador, as a “life long friend of China,” trying to arrange a free trip for himself and a delegation of fellow Marxists to the “People’s Republic.”

The Chinese did not wish to fork out for the entire delegation, but did graciously invite Hugh DeLacy and his wife and comrade Dorothy on an all expenses paid trip to China.

In a letter dated December 16, 1974, Hugh DeLacy thanked Hu Hung-fan of the Communist Party controlled Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, for inviting himself and his wife to visit the country.

The DeLacy’s visited China for a month in April/May 1975. As guests of the Communist government, the couple visited factories, farms, political organizations and civic groups.

They also met with several Americans then in China – Jack Service and his old friends Solomon Adler and his wife Pat, and Frank Coe and his wife Ruth. This letter from Hugh DeLacy to Solomon and Pat Adler confirms the meeting.

The ” Wheeler” referred to above is Don Wheeler, a life long Communist Party member from Washington State.

Wheeler was employed during the late 1930s in the United States Department of Agriculture and the Treasury. From 1941 to 1946, he was one of many Communist Party members employed by the Office of Strategic Services, the forerunner of the C.I.A. While in government service, Wheeler was an active member of the Perlo spy group, run by another Party member, economist Victor Perlo.

Hugh DeLacy was also in correspondence with Victor Perlo in the mid-1970s.

The Perlo group was closely related to another Soviet spy ring operating at this time in Washington DC – the Silvermaster group, headed by another Agriculture Department and Treasury official, Nathan Gregory Silvermaster. Two key members of Silvermaster’s ring were fellow Treasury Department official Solomon Adler and assistant to the Executive Director, Board of Economic Warfare, Frank Coe.

Why was Hugh DeLacy hobnobbing in China with two identified spies – Coe and Adler, and one suspected spy, Jack Service? Was this an old commie’s social gathering? Unfortunately, it may have been more than that. Frank Coe and Sol Adler were both high level servants of the Maoist regime.

Frank Coe had moved permanently to China to work for the Maoist regime during the Great Leap Forward, culminating in what Chinese history recalls as the Three Years of Disasters. By 1959, Coe was writing articles justifying the infamous Rectification campaign. He reportedly remained a government propagandist for many years.

After also moving to China, Sol Adler reportedly worked in various capacities in Chinese Communist Party Intelligence. According to the Cold War International History Project Bulletin, article: “Was Solomon Adler A Communist?” page 275, before his death in 1994, Adler was an “Advisor” to the “External Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the CCP, the department that handles such well-known figures as Larry Wu-tai Ching of the CIA, who was arrested by the FBI in 1983 for espionage – committing suicide in jail in 1986.”

Today, Leon Panetta is on the verge of assuming the most important defense post in the free world.

For more than 10 years, Mr. Panetta maintained a close friendship and regular correspondence with Hugh DeLacy, a long time Communist Party member and unrepentant Marxist-Leninist to his dying day. Panetta regularly supplied DeLacy with government reports and opinions on defense and foreign policy matters. A year before Panetta was elected to Congress and the correspondence began, his friend was in China as a guest of the communists meeting with several former and at least one reported active spy.

Mr. Panetta has apparently volunteered none of this information during any of his Senate confirmation hearings. Not one Senator has asked any questions about any of Panetta’s extensive history with communists and far left activists.

Does the American public deserve to know these disturbing facts about Leon Panetta’s background? What are the implications for US and Western security if Leon Panetta has been in any way compromised by his past associates?

Is that a risk that the US public should be forced to bear, without any obligation on Panetta to explain his past associations? What is the US Senate doing to safeguard US national security in regard to the Panetta matter? Will this situation become known in the history books as “Panettagate,” or will it be nipped in the bud now?

South Carolina Worker Sues Federal Gov’t Over Possible Loss of His Job

Barack Obama’s interference in the business operations of Boeing new Dreamliner manufacturing project will likely cause thousands of workers in South Carolina to lose their jobs. Because of this, one Palmetto State worker is suing the federal government for its part in his probable future job loss.

This is a story about Obama’s status as the top bought-and-paid-for union hack in the country and how he is attempting to use his powers to wield regulations as a tool to punish an American business for wanting to open a new manufacturing plant in South Carolina all because the president feels that a union will be hurt in the process of the creation of thousands of new jobs.

As it happens, airplane manufacturer Boeing wants to open a new manufacturing plant in South Carolina for its new Dreamliner plane because the manufacturer had been having so many union-caused troubles in its Washington State plant.

Once the workers in South Carolina found out that Boeing intended to open a new plant in their state they held a meeting and decided to boot out the International Association of Machinists (IAM) union so as to make their fellow workers even more attractive to Boeing to entice the venture to completion in South Carolina. These workers knew that the union would hamper the efforts to create new jobs for South Carolinians.

This caused the union to run to its bought-and-paid-for commander in chief in Washington D.C. To help the union, Obama directed his National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) to inform Boeing that it would not be allowed to build its new business in South Carolina simply because the IAM had lost its power over the workers there.

As a result of this unprecedented interference by a federal regulatory body under the thumb of the most anti-business president in American history, the National Right to Work Foundation’s attorneys have filed suit for Boeing employee Dennis Murray, the man who led the effort to toss oust the machinist’s union in his Charleston plant.

For his part, Obama and his NLRB have been claiming that Boeing’s new plant in South Carolina would cost the country thousands of jobs. But this Friday, National Labor Relations Board’s acting general counsel Lafe Solomon could not provide a House Oversight Committee hearing any proof that there would be any job loss.

What is clear here is that the federal government had no facts at its disposal to base its action against Boeing on in the first place. The NLRB moved forward on its action with no facts and no solid finds but only with a base assumption it made no effort to confirm beforehand. Obama’s NLRB went forward with only one goal: giving unions a payoff. And remembering that unions paid Obama millions during his political career, the whole thing smacks of quid pro quo and not legitimate government interests.

SEIU’s Manifesto? Stephen Lerner Doubles Down on Crippling America’s Economic System

Last week, The Blaze posted two audio recordings of Stephen Lerner, an SEIU boss who was lecturing an audience on how to bring down the American economy. While Lerner had reportedly been fired from the SEIU last year, it turns out that that may not have been the case.

During the audio, Lerner was introduced as being “of SEIU.” Moreover, former ACORN founder, Chief Organizer of ACORN, and all-around community organizing SEIU offical, Wade Rathke stated Friday on his blog:

Lerner has not been “fired” by SEIU as they report.  He was placed on paid leavelast fall to think through his contribution to the union, but was certainly present at the recent international executive board meeting.  He’s in a curious position no doubt, but it’s something like being an “injured reserve” in the NFL and waiting for the team to find a place to bring him back on the roster.

Then, just to affirm that Lerner is still affiliated with the SEIU is Lerner’s bio on a piece posted this afternoon which reads:

Stephen Lerner serves on the Service Employees International Union’s International Executive Board and is the architect of the Justice for Janitors campaign. Lerner is a frequent contributor on national television and radio programs and has published numerous articles charting a path for a 21st-century labor movement.

So, why is this important?

 

Because, as an official still with the SEIU, Steven Lerner did something that most people caught in advocating the bringing down of the American economy would not do…Stephen Lerner doubled down.

In an on line piece posted by Lerner entitled This Can Be Our Moment, Lerner further elaborates on his plan to ‘transform’ America’s economy. After railing against the Left’s usual boogeymen (Wall St., the Koch Brothers, greedy CEOs, Scott Walker, John Kasich, Glenn Beck “and others”), Lerner pitches into his vision of the future.

Though Lerner did not name an individual company to target as he did last week (JP Morgan), his broad vision calls for the following:

  • Using political and economic power to ‘renegotiate’ with Wall Street and raise revenue for cities and states
  • Getting governments to refuse to do business with banks that ‘refuse to pay their fair share’
  • Getting homeowners and students to engage in a ‘loan’ strike (refusing to pay their loans)
  • Calling on government-sector union members to vote to strike
  • Using the private-sector union movement to politicize and transform narrow bargaining “into a vehicle to make unions relevant again”

First, Lerner paints with a broad brush:

It doesn’t have to be this way. This can be our moment. The fragility of an unstable boom-and-bust economy and growing economic inequality create unique opportunities to stoke simmering discontent into concrete, concerted direct action to challenge corporate extremism. From Wisconsin, where hundreds of thousands of workers, students, clergy and others have rallied, to cities around the country where average Americans are occupying Wall Street banks to protest revenue shortfalls, the poisonous deals banks have with cities and states, and foreclosures, a movement is being born that challenges corporate dominance and is inspired by a vision of a better and more just world.

Then Lerner dives in (in full context, with emphasis added):

But in order to make this vision reality, we need to go on offense and make Wall Street pay for the trillions it stole from us. Wall Street is bankrupting cities, states, homeowners, and students with trillions in unfair debt, even after the big banks received $17 trillion in bailouts and backstops after crashing the economy.We can use our political and economic power to renegotiate our relationship with Wall Street to keep millions of people in their homes, and raise revenue for cities and states to protect jobs and critical services:

Here’s how Lerner proposes to do it…

The Potential Power of Government—Don’t Do Business with Bandit Banks: Wall Street does trillions in business with all levels of government. Let’s leverage that money by getting governments to refuse to do business with banks that don’t pay their fair share in taxes, won’t renegotiate high-cost deals that are bankrupting taxpayers with astronomical interest rates, and refuse to stop foreclosures by reducing mortgage principals.

The Potential Power of Homeowners and Students—Don’t Pay Unfair Debt: Growing numbers of homeowners and students cannot afford to pay back their loans. If they organized a loan strike — refusing to pay their mortgages and student loans unless banks agreed to negotiate lower rates — it would threaten CEO bonuses and bottom lines of the banks. When corporations are in trouble they renegotiate their debt all the time so they can get on their feet again. Homeowners, students and local government need that same deal.

The Potential Power of Public Employee Unions—Bargaining to Protect Public Dollars: Public employee unions so far have been on the defensive, trying to stop cuts and concessions. Nurses, teachers, firefighters and others can go on the offensive by putting concrete proposals on the table that would save billions like demanding governments get out of the toxic interest rate swaps that are costing taxpayers at least $1.8 billion a year nationally, or making California renegotiate old loans to conform to the new law on universal credit ratings, which would save $21 billion. Imagine teachers, nurses, firefighters and police voting to strike in order to make the city or state use its power to protect taxpayers and public services while helping to stop foreclosures and stabilize the housing market and tax base.

The Potential Power of Private-Sector Unions—Bargaining for the Greater Good: Collective bargaining can’t only be about improving wages and grievance procedures for union members — it must become a tool for fixing broken industries, creating jobs and revitalizing communities, creating economic opportunity, and altering business practices that exploit communities and pollute the environment. Historically, unions have narrowed what we fight for in moments of weakness. But unions, collective bargaining, and organizing make less and less sense the more we narrow the scope of what we are trying to achieve. By expanding what we’re mobilizing for, unions can politicize and transform narrow bargaining into a vehicle to make unions relevant again and rebuild the middle class.

Though it is certainly debatable whether or not Lerner’s plan could be pulled off, Lerner should not be discounted either. After all, Lerner’s former boss brought you ObamaCare.

In 2008 Sandy Newman Misled for Barack Obama on Obama’s ACORN/Project Vote Ties

“The time has come to lift the veil and reveal the untold story of America’s Radical-in-Chief and his socialist political world.”

Now that the Obama Administration has announced that it will not defend the Defense of Marriage Age and many think that presidential candidate Obama misled them when he discussed marriage at the Saddlebrook Forum during the 2008 presidential campaign, it was be an especially good time to point out that people were misled about Obama, lest his radicalness be appreciated and make him unelectable as President.

Unfortunately, the truth about ACORN, Project Vote, Obama and Obama mentor Sandy Newman is still not generally known.

“’Project Vote! is nonpartisan, strictly nonpartisan. But we do focus our efforts on minority voters, and on states where we can explain to them why their vote will matter. Braun made that easier in Illinois.’ So [Sandy] Newman decided to open a Cook County Project Vote! office and went looking for someone to head it. The name Barack Obama surfaced. ‘I was asking around among community activists in Chicago and around the country, and they kept mentioning him,’ Newman says. Obama by then was working with church and community leaders on the West Side, and he was writing a book that the publisher Simon & Schuster had contracted for while he was editor of the law review. He was 30 years old. When Newman called, Obama agreed to put his other work aside. ‘I’m still not quite sure why,’ Newman says. ‘This was not glamorous, high-paying work. But I am certainly grateful. He did one hell of a job.’” [Chicago Magazine, 1/93]

Obama had help. To help the man picked by Newman to head Illinois Project Vote, there were 22 steering committee members. Among Obama’s steerers: rev. Jeremiah Wright, Father Ffleger, Madeline Talbott (head of Illinois ACORN) and Keith Kelleher (head of ACORN-controlled SEIU Local 100 and husband of Talbott).

Stanley Kurtz, in Radical-in-Chief: Barack Obama and the Untold Story of American Socialism, stated (p. viii):

“Over the long term, Obama’s plans are designed to ensnare the country in a new socialism, a stealth socialism that masquerades as a traditional American sense of fair play, a soft but pernicious socialism similar to that currently strangling the economies of Europe.

“This is Barack Obama’s secret. The president has systematically disguised the truth about his socialist convictions. sometimes by directly misrepresenting his past and sometimes by omitting or parceling out damaging information to disguise its real importance. Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers, and ACORN–all of Obama’s well known radical ties are entry points into the much larger and still unknown socialist world where Obama’s career was nurtured. That is why the president has disguised and withheld the truth about these political partnerships.

“The time has come to lift the veil and reveal the untold story of America’s Radical-in-Chief and his socialist political world.”

The sooner, the better.

The liberal media establishment has been determined to help Obama maintain his image, but facts are pesky things.

After John Fund’s Wall Street Journal op-ed titled “Obama’s Liberal Shock Troops” on July 12, 2008, Team Obama needed to distance their man from ACORN.

Sanford A. Newman responded by writing a letter that was published in the Wall Street Journal on July 22, 2008.

Newman wrote:

“John Fund’s ‘Obama’s Liberal Shock Troops’ (op-ed, July 12) has some facts wrong. The historic nonpartisan drive to increase voter participation that Barack Obama led in 1992 wasn’t for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, but for Project Vote–of which i was the national director in 1992.

“Instead of accepting far more prestigious and better paying offers, Mr. Obama accepted a grueling job with Project Vote for a meager salary. He believed so much in the democratic process that he even gave up the contract for publication of his book, not knowing whether he would ever find another publisher. He brought a broad spectrum of community organizations into that effort, conducting what remains the most successful nonpartisan voter drive in Illinois history.

“Project Vote remains a separate organization today. Indeed, it wasn’t until after Mr. Obama’s tenure had ended that it began to conduct projects more frequently with ACORN than with other community-based organizations.

“Both Project Vote and ACORN should be proud that their efforts have increased voting. Acorn should also be proud of its other work, including winning minimum-wage increases and helping lead the fight against predatory lending and unfair foreclosures.

“Mr. Obama’s willingness to sacrifice because of his deep commitment to strengthening the democratic process is something that all Americans should applaud regardless of their party or politics.”

Was Project Vote really nonpartisan?

Of course not. Illinois Project Vote, which Newman chose Obama to head in 1992, registered people to vote later that year for such Democrats (Bill Clinton for President, Carol Moseley Braun for United States Senator).

WAS Project Vote separate from ACORN in 1992 or in 2008?

As Clinton might say, it depends upon what separate means.

Jon Bauman of Texas responded to Newman in a letter published in the Wall Street Journal on August 7, 2008.

Bauman wrote:

“Regarding Sanford A. Newman’s letter ‘ACORN Didn’t Employ Obama in ’92′ (July 22), I would like Mr. Newman to explain the following:

(1) The union and Clinton/Gore Campaign financial support to Project Vote in the context of Mr. Newman’s claim that Mr. Obama led a ‘nonpartisan’ voter drive in 1992.

(2) His semantic effort to separate the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (Acorn) from Project Vote when Mr. Obama’s official Web site reports the following with respect to Acorn’s endorsement of Mr. Obama’s run for the presidency in 2007:

‘When Obama met with Acorn leaders in November, he reminded them of his history with Acorn and his beginnings in Illinois as a Project Vote organizer, a nonprofit focused on voter rights and education. Senator Obama said, “I come out of a grassroots organizing background. That’s what I did for three and half years before I went to law school. That’s the reason I moved to Chicago was to organize. So there is something that I know personally, the work you do, the importance of it. I’ve been fighting alongside Acorn on issues you care about my entire career. Even before I was an elected official, when I ran Project Vote voter registration drive in Illinois, Acorn was smack dab in the middle of it, and we appreciate your work.”‘

“Although receiving federal funds and supposedly nonpartisan, there was nothing nonpartisan about Project Vote’s ’92 voter registration drive. In fact, some have attributed Mr. Obama’s Project Vote work as key to getting Democrat Carol Moseley Braun elected senator. And while Acorn might not have signed his pay checks at Project Vote, Mr. Obama’s own words prove that Project Vote and ACORN were hand and glove.”

The Project Vote-is-nonpartisan claim is absurd.

In “Perot’s Support Slips, but Impact in Race Remains–Where His Supporters Go May Determine if Bush Has Chance of winning” (Wall Street Journal, Oct. 30, 1992, p. A1), David shribman and James M. Perry reported:

“Voting experts at the Democratic National Committee point to surging registration in several big cities, such as Detroit, Chicago and Philadelphia. Most of that work has been done by the nonpartisan Project Vote, a voter participation organization based in Washington, D.C. Its director, Sandy Ndewman, says his group has helped to register 150,000 new voters, almost all of them black, in Pennsylvania; 110,000 in Chicago; 70,000 in Michigan; 40,000 in Ohio; and 160,000 (with the help of the New York Public Interest Research Group) in New York City.”

Note: That’s the New York Public Interest Research Group which includes this statement on its website (www.nypirg.org/goodgov/obama.html): “President Obama’s Role as a NYPIRG Project Coordinator. As mentioned in his autobiography, Dreams for My Father, President Obama was hired in his first job as an organizer as a ‘Project Coordinator’ in February 1985 to run NYPIRG’s office at the City College of New York. He continued in this position for approximately three months until the end of the academic year….”

Project Vote goes back to the first year of the Reagan administration and was created to oppose, not to support, it.

Hedrick Smith, “Candidates Concerned About Alienation in People Out of Work,” New York Times, Oct. 8, 1982, p. A1:

“Project Vote, a nonpartisan effort with $34,000 in donations from labor unions and slightly more from private foundations, says it has registered more than 80,000 people who were standing in lines for unemployment, food stamps and welfare benefits in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, Indiana and Michigan.

“‘Our objective is to increase electoral participation by those who participate least and are most in need of an equal voice at the polls, and that means low income people and unemployed workers,’ said Sandy Newman, the group’s executive director.”

In Project Vote v. Ohio Bureau of Employment Services, 578 F. Supp. 7 (S.D. Ohio), the court described Project Vote as “one of the projects of Americans for Civic Participation, a non-partisan voter registration campaigned aimed at low income citizens.” Americans for Civic Participation was a District of Columbia non-profit with 501(c)(3) status.

Later Project Vote was OFFICIALLY added to the ACORN “family of organizations.”

Americans need to know what Project Vote really has been doing, and why, and Team Obama needs to keep them deceived and/or ignorant in order to promote its raadical agenda effectively.

Demand answers.

Stanley Kurtz’s Radical-in-Chief Could (and Should) Have Given Obama Much More Grief

With the liberal media establishment in the tank for Obama during the 2008 presidential race and the truth bound to doom his presidential campaign if it had become generally known, it’s little wonder that the “Radical-in-Chief” chose to lie.

Stanley Kurtz’s Radical-in-Chief: Barack Obama and the Untold Story of American Socialism, officially released on October 19, 2010, is a valuable book, as far it went. It is required reading for people concerned about America’s future and cognizant of the need to understand the past in order to cope with the present and shape the future. Kurtz made good use of “internal ACORN documents at the wisconsin Historical Society,” but they were from the last millenium and his book would have been much more impactful if Kurtz had interviewed ACORN whistleblower Anita MonCrief on the subject of ACORN and Obama.

Kurtz is a Senior Fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center and a contributing editor for National Review Online. He appreciated the connection between ACORN and the financial crisis that paved the way for the Obama presidency before Election Day 2008.

The product description of Kurtz’s book is as follows:

“President Barack Obama surprised many voters during a pre-election interview when he approvingly noted that Ronald Reagan had ‘changed the trajectory of America’ in a way that other presidents had not. In effect, Obama was saying that he, too, aimed to transform America in some fundamental way. Kurtz closed his book’s ACORN chapter this way:

“Given all this, it seems fair to say that Barack Obama knowingly lied about his ties to ACORN during the 2008 campaign. But while a ‘lie’ is certainly included in the problem, I think something much larger than a single infraction against the truth is at stake here, Obama’a suppression of his ties to ACORN is part of a systematic and deep-lying pattern of deception about his radical political past. Obama’s campaign stance was so completely at odds with existing information on his ACORN ties–not to mention the archival evidence–that it is a matter for wonder that the candidate kept to his story, and did so with a straight face. Obama could have confessed more, I think, if full exposure of his ACORN ties hadn’t threatened to unravel his entire radical network. As we’ve seen, rightly understood, Obama’s ACORN connection encompasses everything from Reverend Wright, to Bill Ayers, to the Midwest Academy, to socialist crisis theorists like Richard Cloward, Frances Fox Piven, and Peter Dreier, to the social thinkers behind the New Party. The role of ACORN in the financial crisis was raised by McCain, and this turned the ACORN issue into political dynamite as well. ACORN is at the center of Barack Obama’s political world, and the very immensity of the fact required nothing less than a brazen attempt at deception when the issue emerged in 2008. Yet the story of ACORN is Obama’s story too.”

Turgid prose translation: Obama shamelessly lied about his ACORN ties and “the story of ACORN is Obama’s story too.”

But Obama’s ACORN lies should not be a subject of wonder, especially to those who have read or heard MonCrief: With the liberal media establishment in the tank for Obama during the 2008 presidential race and his presidential campaign doomed if the truth had become generally known, the slick “Radical-in-Chief” chose to lie and did so smoothly.

That Obama lied about it is beyond legitimate dispute. In private campaign remarks to ACORN, Obama said: “I definitely welcome ACORN’s input. You don’t have to ask me about that. I’m going to call you even if you don’t ask me. When I ran Project Vote, the voter registration drive in Illinois, ACORN was smack dab in the middle of it. Once I was elected there wasn’t a campaign that ACORN worked on down in Springfield that I wasn’t right there with you. Since I have been in the United States Senate, I have always been a partner with ACORN as well. I’ve been fighting with ACORN, along side ACORN, on the issues you care about my entire career.”

Obama could have added that his presidential campaign was illictly coordinating with Project Vote, an unoffically non-partisan 501(c)(3) corporation that was part of the ACORN “family of organizations,” and that National Journal had ranked him the most liberal United States senator, ahead of Vermont’s admitted socialist, Bernie Sanders.

What IS “a matter of wonder” is why Kurtz ignored MonCrief and the decision of The New York Times to spike an Obama/ACORN expose that Times reporter Stephanie Strom had been working on with MonCrief a couple of weeks before Election Day 2008. (Strom is mentioned at pp. 221-22 of the book.)

Had Kurtz contacted MonCrief, he would have produced a much better book and generated much higher sales.

Much more importantly, the ugly truth about Obama and ACORN would already be more widely known.
